IDC NUSA LEMBONGAN SCHEDULE

PADI IDC NUSA LEMBONGAN COURSE STRUCTURE

Our IDC Nusa Lembongan will take 15-16 days. During this span of time, we will have the flexibility to focus on key areas of development. This means that we can spend more time on areas you may have trouble with. Furthermore, you’ll get sufficient one-on-one time with your Course Director.

Your schedule during the IDC will first consist of half days in our air-conditioned rooms. The rest of the day will likely be spent in the pool or out at sea! Extra practical sessions on top of the PADI IDC curriculum will be included in your schedule. For example, you will participate in a Discover Scuba Dive simulation. You will take your fellow IDC classmates out for a dive as if it is their first time diving.

The PADI IDC Nusa Lembongan is made up of two parts. Firstly, there is the Assistant Instructor Course. Then, there is the Open Water Scuba Instructor program. Together, they make up the full IDC course. In the end, you will sit an official PADI Instructor Examination. If you pass (we know you will!) you’ll be an official PADI Instructor!

Course Orientation

We will use this time to set the structure of your course. You’ll be able to ask us any questions you may have. We aim to make the most of your every day with us! Furthermore, you will take this time to go over exam questions.

Learning, Instruction, and the PADI System:

This section is about the theory behind how people learn. Additionally, this is where you will be introduced to the PADI approach to teaching scuba diving.

Knowledge Development Presentations:

You’ll get the chance to put together presentations for your classmates. Topics will range from OW, AOW, and other specialties. This is an especially important module because it’ll help you gain confidence in teaching in a classroom. Additionally, you’ll be able to build on your theoretical knowledge.

Teaching PADI Specialty Courses:

This will be the time to go through the many specialty courses that PADI offers. Each program has its own goals, standards, and marketing. You’ll also be able to choose which free workshops you want to be included in your course!

Start Diving – PADI Diver Acquisition Programs:

PADI’s DIVE TODAY Philosophy is an important part of becoming an instructor. We will also go over the discovery programs that PADI offers. This includes Discover Scuba Diving, Discover Snorkeling, and Skin Diver.

Teaching in Confined Water:

It’s time to learn all about teaching in confined water! Each student you have is different. You must adapt your teaching to the skills and needs of each one. This section will allow you to excel at the Confined Water Teaching Presentation section of your Instructor Exam.

Conducting Open Water Training Dives:

There will also be a section dedicated to Open Water training. Adapting to each student is crucial. Furthermore, we’ll also center on organizing and scheduling open water training dives. We will consider things such as weather and tides.

Business of Diving:

We will examine the business side of scuba diving. You will gain a better understanding of where the industry is headed and determine growth potential. Additionally, we will learn about what appeals to people about diving. This will help you to better accommodate your future students.

General Standards and Procedures:

Professionalism is a key part to being a dive instructor. We will examine in detail what exactly are PADI standards. These will be the guidelines from which you will work from over your career. This is what separates good dive instructors from the best dive instructors.

Organizing and Conducting Programs:

Furthering the education of your students is an important part of your scuba journey. Let’s learn how to run a PADI Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster course! During this section, you will also become an EFR Instructor. All in all, you’ll learn about the standards and benefits of each course.

Legal Responsibility and Risk Management:

Scuba diving is overall a very safe sport. However, it is an extreme sport that does have some risks. We’ll learn how to deal with those risks. Additionally, we will go over how the law applies to teaching scuba.

How to Teach The Recreational Dive Planner:

Firstly, we will go over the RDP tables. Next, we will learn how to best teach them to your students.

Marketing Diving:

For our last module, we will learn how to market your skills to find future students. An instructor needs their students! There are many approaches. For example, social media marketing is increasingly becoming more popular. You will determine the pros and cons of each approach.

EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONDER INSTRUCTOR COURSE

The Emergency First Responder Instructor Course consists of three main parts. Firstly, we’ll learn how to properly administer primary care (CPR). Then, we can go over cuts and bruises which is considered secondary care (First Aid). After, we’ll learn how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Overall, you will learn how to create a comfortable and inclusive learning environment. The course structure, sequencing, standards, and system will be of utmost importance. It is a serious topic that could save a life one day. However, you should aim to have some fun and make it an enjoyable experience for your students.

Sidemount Workshop

Have you ever wanted to dive with a sidemount configuration? It has a number of benefits compared to the standard set up. Firstly, you’ll be able to access tighter compartments. Perfect for cave diving! Next, it’ll improve your trim and make you more streamlined. Lastly, it gives you another safety net in the form of redundancy. It’s almost like having another buddy! Furthermore, learning to dive sidemount introduces you to the world of technical diving.

Coral Propagation Workshop

It should be every diver’s responsibility to give back to the ocean. Come help out our coral reefs! You will learn how during this workshop. Coral propagation is serious work. Corals are very delicate so you will be taught how to properly handle them. This will increase the chances of successful rehabilitation.

After the course, you will definitely have an in-depth understanding of the role of corals in our environment. We’ll cover broodstock extraction, site preparation, and monitoring. All in all, this is a must for those into conservation!

Self Reliant Diver Workshop

You were probably taught to never dive without a buddy. Even so, you have probably found yourself in situations where you are alone. Being captivated by a marine creature and losing your buddy is very common. The Self Reliant Diver workshop will give you the training needed to deal with such a situation.

Firstly, we will go in depth on surface air consumption rate. Then, how to manage your gas and safe ascents. Lastly, techniques to stay calm are very important! Overall, this course will make you a much better diver.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR IDC NUSA LEMBONGAN

It’s good to be prepared! Prior to arriving in sunny Nusa Lembongan, Bali, here are a few things you should do. Dig up your textbooks from your previous courses. Core theory topics include: physiology, physics, dive skills, equipment, the environment, and the RDP. If you can, you should also practice the 24 skills and rescue exercise from your Divemaster course. You’ll also get to review everything during the 2 days of prep time before your IDC.

Additionally, you’ll be able to access the eLearning after signing up. This will include sections for the Assistant Instructor Course. You’ll be able to get through the material at your own pace. This will give you the option to concentrate on areas you know you need help in when the IDC begins.

You will also need to purchase the following materials and do some paperwork. This will make your experience as streamlined as possible.

COMPLETING YOUR PADI IDC NUSA LEMBONGAN EXAM
